The crackling (also called crazing) is a stylistic feature caused by tension from the glaze and clay expanding and contracting during firing. Hand stamped foot-ring with the Oracle Goods "OG" Stamp.

I personally always hand wash my pottery however all my pieces are dishwasher safe. Overtime the raw (unglazed) clay body can stain and for that reason I avoid subjecting my personal pieces to the wear and tear of the dishwasher. Handle with care to avoid chipping and cracking.

Handwashing preferred but a dishwasher is just fine - use top rack. Handle with care. Handmade stonewear can be fragile.
